Home

It’s been quite a wild ride since leaving the hospital. I’ve recovered in terms of being in the hospital and having chemo. Upon returning home, I was very weak, I have since regained my strength, but still find myself very sore. Right before I left the hospital I had a bone marrow biopsy done and a lumbar puncture done. They are done in the same area in the lower back. I still don’t have any relief as far as soreness goes, from those procedures. It’s definitely made being home a little more difficult, especially with how busy the kids are!

The weekend after I got home we hosted Everett’s 2nd birthday party at my parents house. It wasn’t executed as I had planned due to weather and just the timing of it all, but it was still great to be home for his birthday and have a get together to see our family’s! We also did Easter, on my side of the family, the following day, so I could be a part of it. We hid Easter eggs for the kids to find outside, and put together Easter baskets for each of the kids. It was a fun filled day, with delicious food.

On the eve of my scheduled return to the hospital, we found out that my sister-in-laws husband, whom we live with, had a positive Covid test. We were unsure how to approach the situation so I called my nurse line to see what was recommended. I wasn’t having symptoms, but they ordered a Covid test anyway. So Sunday afternoon, Josh and I had to drive to Brooklyn Center so I could be tested. It was the nearest clinic with an opening. That test came back negative, but they postponed my admission date for chemo anyways. I had another Covid test on Wednesday, but that one was in Princeton, which was so much more convenient. That test also came back negative, but by that evening I started feeling a little tickle in my throat.

By this time, my sister-in-law had also come down with Covid. So mid-Wednesday I left to go to my sisters, who lives nearby, to try and quarantine away from it all, in hopes of not getting it. I stayed there until Friday morning, where by that time, Josh was feeling under the weather and got another Covid test that came back positive, and my symptoms were increasing, so it didn’t make sense to stay away. I had another Covid test on Friday in BLOOMINGTON! Which is completely ridiculous, but that test came back positive. So in less than a week, all 4 adults in the house had Covid. The kids, have not showed much for symptoms, so if they have it, they aren’t too affected by it. Which is a blessing in itself!

It’s been a juggling act when it comes to who is watching and caring for the kids. With all 4 adults being sick and me being basically useless when it comes to watching the kids on my own, it’s been interesting to say the least. Thankfully, all of us have shared in what symptoms we have, and they have been minor. The worst symptom for us has been the body aches. Several of us have a bit of a cough, and several of us dealt with headaches. Otherwise, as far as symptoms go, that’s about it.

Due to not knowing if I was Covid positive, the hospital continued to push back my admission date, and then finally just put it on hold indefinitely, until my Covid results came back, I got more symptoms, or started feeling better. That said, I am still home. Not under the best circumstances, but home is better than the hospital, even with the Covid we all have. I do not have an admission date for chemo as of yet, and I’m not sure if they will wait until my symptoms are gone or not. I’m not positive, but I think it would be Wednesday at the earliest, that I would go back. So I get another weekend home with my family, and I’m not complaining one bit.

Much love to you all!

Wow, Covid certainly made your treatments so much more difficult to get. I’m sorry for all this circus of getting a test. Hopefully, you can get in soon.
