I have plans beyond chemo. I have plans beyond cancer. And it feels so good. It’s liberating to be excited about what comes next. I officially have 3 chemo treatments left, and up to 12 more injections, well 11 now, considering I already got my injection today. Which by the way, I waited in the waiting room with a sick baby for over an hour!! I waited over an hour for a 30 second appointment to get a needle stick. I was pretty dang irritated, to say the least. Luckily, my boy was amazing. He just hung out in his car seat the entire time, and dozed off and on.
After moving to 4 injections instead of 2, I started experimenting with injection sites. Previously, when I would only need 2 injections I would do them both in the back of my upper arm. I noticed that my soreness and achiness from them seemed to collect in my shoulders and neck. So last week when I started getting 4 injections I switched it up every other time. So I ended up getting 2 in the belly and 2 in the arm. It seemed to help with spreading out the soreness so it all didn’t gravitate to one area in my body. I plan to do the same thing this time around. 1 in the belly down, and while it is not the most pleasant thing in the world, it’s really not as bad as one may think.
Yesterday’s chemo numbers were great. It appears that getting 4 injections really helped boost my white blood cell count, which in turn really helped boost my ANC. My ANC yesterday was 2,632; well above what I need in order to do chemo. Hopefully the injections continue to help and I can knock these last 3 treatments out without setbacks. I have, however, begun to experience neuropathy in my fingers and toes. Nothing too severe yet, but it’s only the beginning and will likely continue to get worse. Hoping I can make it through my last 3 treatments without having to lower my chemo dose, or stop chemo all together.

Back to my plans beyond chemo. While I do have some surgeries scheduled or in the works beyond chemo, I also have some things to look forward to as well. A vacation is in the works. That’s right a VACATION! A much needed getaway. I will also be starting the process of planning my son’s 1st birthday! I can’t even believe I am saying those words. My baby will be one in just a few short months. There is much more planning for the future to come!
